3 ways to use photography to show your team connecting virtually

Challenging times bring creativity, and it's been inspiring seeing how people have played around with different ways of connecting with their family, friends, communities, colleagues and team via Zoom since work from home (aka WFH) became the ‘norm’. Murder mysteries parties, quizzing battles, a myriad of amazing conferences and I've even seen a super cool virtual bar hop⁣.

Although in-person events and team building activities are out for the time being, the importance of building and maintaining team connections will never be!

If you’re a business that either has transparency as a core value, or is looking at how to share authentic content from ‘the belly of the business’ on your marketing channels, then sharing stories of behind the scenes with your team is a great way to do so.

Here are 3 ways you can use photography to show your business connecting, growing, and supporting each other via Zoom, or whatever video conferencing platform you use.

1. Show your team and community in their home or workspace connecting through Zoom

3 talking points to use alongside the images in your marketing:

  • The different geographical locations your team are videoing in from.

  • What kind of workspaces does your team work from: are they working from a kitchen table at their home? Are they set up in their bedroom? Do they share a workstation with their partner or roommate or dog? Are they in a coworking space with other remote workers and if so, what does that space look like? (Side note: a great way to help promote coworking spaces!).

  • Are there any particular decorative features of your team members that are a talking point? Eg, a painting on the wall that has a particular meaning, or a window that looks out onto a special view.

2. Hello from the other side...how does it look from your clients end?

5 talking points to use alongside the images in your marketing:

  • How are your clients set up?

  • Can we see any hints of what it is they do around their desk or working space?

  • What are you talking about on your call with them? Share an inside joke!

  • Some of the processes you work through with your clients. How do you get to know them and their business?

  • What do they have to do from their end to be onboarded to your business?

3. How are you facilitating connection through games or warm up activities?

2 talking points to use alongside the images in your marketing:

  • Show us your finest virtual warm-up activity! Do you have a 2-minute haiku race? Do you pick someone on the screen to draw?

  • Ask your audience what warm up activities they do to foster connection on their virtual video calls.
